Abstract

Forest implementation as a national development
asset is very beneficial for life and livelihood. Participation in the
level of community involvement in the empowerment process
around the Kotawaringin forest area, Bangka Regency, Bangka
Belitung Islands Province, as well as an effective community
empowerment strategy or in accordance with the socio-cultural
conditions of the community around the forest area have the
potential to improve community welfare and forest sustainability.
Empowering local communities aims to determine the
implementation of effective community empowerment models and
strategies for communities living around forest areas in
accordance with local conditions and potential. The community
empowerment method used is the formulation of effective
community empowerment models and strategies for communities
around forest areas by planting hybrid coconuts that are in
accordance with local conditions and potential. Various stages
were carried out in empowering the community in the first forest
area, in the form of raising awareness by providing understanding
to the community through socialization activities regarding the
management of production forest areas. The next stage of
planning is by involving the community in compiling activity
programs for production forest groups, community participation
becomes a learning medium for the community in compiling an
activity program. The results of this empowerment activity are
seen from an economic perspective, namely that the community
can improve the family economy by utilizing forest areas as
business products and utilizing production forest areas. When
viewed from an educational perspective, it is in the form of
increasing the capacity of human resources, community welfare
in maintaining and preserving forest areas. And when viewed
from a social perspective, namely the creation of cooperation and
mutual cooperation between village communities in maintaining
and utilizing production forest areas. The expected output in
community empowerment will be input for community
empowerment around production forests in Kotawaringin, Bangka
Regency.
